Monday already started with some surprisingly high ratings for various shows. TV Asahi was able to shine with “Qsama!!” and “Takeshi no TV Tackle“, while Fuji TV entertained their viewers with “HEY! HEY HEY! MUSIC CHAMP” and the Monday drama “Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu“. All four shows experienced an increase in ratings compared to last week.
There was some drama with the much-talked about ‘bed scene’ with AKB48’s Oshima Yuko. It caused the show to momentarily break its fall in ratings, but you also have to give some credit to the music show, featuring popular girl group KARA, which was a much stronger lead-in than usual. The scene in question wasn’t really worth being called a bed scene, but it still managed to cause drama among some of Oshima’s wotas. It looks like you just can’t put an idol in a bed scene or on any bed in general, unless it involves some ‘heavy rotation’ with fellow group members.
Anyhow, the rating is probably going to drop again next week, but this week Fuji TV can rejoice at a decent rating of 16.1%.
The Tuesday dramas have pretty much stabilized and are only prone to some minor changes in their ratings. “Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de” (Fuji TV) gained 0.3%, “HUNTER” (Fuji TV) 0.4%, “Shinya Shokudo 2” (TBS) 0.4%, and “Watashi no Host-chan” (TV Asahi) 0.1%. “Bitter Sugar” (NHK) lost 0.5%.
However, that day also featured a big winner, as “Kare, Otto, Otoko Tomodachi” (NHK) was able to improve by 2.2%. It seems like people were skeptical about this series prior to the first episode, but apparently they liked what they saw. The rating for the second episode was 8.7%, which already sounds much better tha 6.5% for an NHK drama in that time slot.
Everything was back to normal on Wednesday, as “Aibou season10” (TV Asahi) overcame last week’s holiday blues and jumped back up to 17.0%. However, this season it won’t be able to claim the Wednesday crown, because there is one drama that stands above them all.
Of course I’m talking about NTV’s hit drama “Kaseifu no Mita“. This show really managed to gain even more viewers, and not just a few. It’s rating actually went up by 3.0% this week, and while it was expected for this drama to break the 20% mark someday, who would’ve guessed that it would already reach 22.5% as early as the fifth episode?
Thanks to this week’s episode, the average rating of this drama also reached a threshold of 20%, breaking away from all of its competitors. One of those competitors, “Nankyoku Tairiku” (TBS), also had to hand over another achievement, as 22.5% marks the single best rated episode recorded this season so far. The first episode of “Nankyoku Tairiku” had a rating of 22.2%.
Let’s not forget about the late-night drama “QP” (NTV). This drama continued to increase its rating and once again reached a new season-high with 2.8%.
Since TV Asahi lost the crown on Wednesday, despite having “Aibou” back in their program, it seems like they are now trying to take over Thursday.
Both Thursday dramas on this network, plus other prime time shows, experienced a sharp increase in ratings this week. The 8:00 pm drama, “Kasouken no Onna 11“, regained its initial strength with an improvement by a whooping 3.7%. The following drama, “DOCTORS“, which airs back-to-back, benefited from its success and was able to increase its viewer share as well (+1.3% -> now 15.7%). It’s slowly climbing up to the top group of dramas this season.
NTV was strong as well, especially thanks to another great episode of “Guru-Guru Ninety-Nine“, but TV Asahi was the clear winner of the prime time that day.
“Runaway” (TBS), which airs in the same time slot as “DOCTORS”, wasn’t able to compete against all those high-rated shows and eventually lost more ground. It lost 1.6% and is now down to 9.3%. Every season has one big underrated drama and “Runaway” is on the best way to claim this ungrateful title this time, since it actually offers quite a compelling story.
“Mitsu no Aji” (Fuji TV) managed to stay above the 10% for the second week in a row, while midnight drama “Himitsu Chouhouin Erika” (NTV) has to find a way to stabilize its ratings six episodes into the series.
You can check out the ratings of all the fall dramas below the daily report.

NHK, TBS and TV Tokyo usually don’t disclose the ratings for their shows on a regular basis, therefore they won’t be included in the list below. Certain dramas or drama specials that aired on those channels and might lack ratings are still included with a ??.?% rating. This doesn’t mean that the ratings were too low to recorded.
Improvements and declines will be illustrated with the use of several icons. The colors and the numbers indicate how much the ratings have changed.
An orange color means almost no change, while a red color means the ratings dropped, and a green color means the ratings improved.
